Net Zero Summit 2026: Building the Future of Green Construction
The future of construction will not be defined by a single technology or a single enterprise — it will be shaped through the convergence of research, standards, innovation, and collaboration. This conviction stood at the center of Net Zero Summit 2026, an international event series hosted by TranDuc Corporation over two days, 22–23 June, under the theme "Building the Future of Green Construction."
Held across three venues — Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam National University HCMC (HCMUT), An Lam Retreats Saigon River, and JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon — Net Zero Summit 2026 brought together representatives from government authorities, research institutes, universities, and a network of strategic partners from Vietnam, Japan, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Canada, Australia, and across Southeast Asia. Together, they exchanged knowledge, explored emerging solutions, and helped shape the future of sustainable construction — spanning workforce training, scientific research, standards development, technology innovation, international cooperation, and real-world application.
The series opened at HCMUT with "The Builders of the Green Era," a dialogue forum between local and international experts and the next generation of engineers and architects on low-carbon materials, Mass Timber, industrialized construction, and sustainable development trends. On this occasion, TranDuc Corporation awarded four scholarships to students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, encouraging research into green materials and new construction technologies, and reflecting the company's long-term commitment to nurturing the engineers who will lead the industry's sustainable transformation.

The most significant milestone of Net Zero Summit 2026 was the strategic partnership signed between TranDuc Corporation and the Institute of Building Science and Technology (IBST), an institute under Vietnam's Ministry of Construction. Under the agreement, the two parties will jointly research and build a technical standards system for timber structures in Vietnam; conduct in-depth research into the application of CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) and Glulam (Glue Laminated Timber) under local climate conditions; and advance green material solutions to help reduce carbon emissions across the construction sector.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, IBST Director Nguyễn Hồng Hải described the partnership as a strategic alliance aimed at addressing core challenges facing the construction industry, and said he expects it to lay the groundwork for the step-by-step research, development, and widespread application of Mass Timber solutions in Vietnam.
TranDuc Corporation's Technical Director, Nguyễn Huy Hiển, noted that for the timber construction industry to grow sustainably, technology and production capacity alone are not enough — a standards system suited to Vietnam's practical conditions is also essential. He added that the partnership with IBST is an important step toward connecting enterprises, research bodies, and domestic and international partners in building that foundation.
Net Zero Summit 2026 also marked the official launch of TD Tech Hub, an initiative spearheaded by TranDuc Corporation with the ambition of becoming an international collaboration platform for timber and industrialized construction in Southeast Asia. From its founding, TD Tech Hub brought together a strategic partner network including AIA Southeast Asia, IBST, Rothoblaas (Italy), MINDA (Germany), and Life Design Kabaya (Japan), alongside numerous experts and enterprises working in green materials, Mass Timber, and industrialized construction. Beyond connecting partners, TD Tech Hub is designed as a long-term collaboration platform to advance research, standards development, technology transfer, workforce training, and innovation — channeling global knowledge, experience, and advanced technology toward Vietnam's domestic research and production capacity.

Alongside its research and international partnership activities, TranDuc Corporation officially introduced TD ShieldWood, an engineered timber system researched and developed specifically for Vietnam's climate. Built on three core technologies — Thermo modification, H-Grade treatment, and engineered wood joinery — TD ShieldWood overcomes the inherent weaknesses of traditional timber in tropical environments: resistance to termites and warping, and long-term durability. The product offers diverse applications, from interior and exterior finishes, flooring, ceilings, and wall systems to structural columns and beams, backed by a 10-year termite warranty and a service life of up to 50 years.

Rounding out the event series, Mass Timber Design Awards 2026 drew more than 80 entries from across the country, bringing together architects, designers, and students from leading architecture and construction schools including the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam National University HCMC (HCMUT), Vietnamese-German University (VGU), and Van Lang University. Entries were judged on creativity, applicability, environmental impact, and sustainability, across three competition categories: Professional, Student, and Specialized.
Mass Timber Design Awards 2026 draws more than 80 entries from architects and students at leading architecture and construction schools nationwide
First prize in the Professional category went to Timber Forest by team NaP Architects, while first prize in the Student category went to Harmony Pavilion by team Harmony from Vietnamese-German University (VGU). In the specialized categories, Nexus Zero won the Eco Design Award, The Timber Threshold won Best Design Concept, and The Timber Canyon won Best Structure Concept. The competition not only honored outstanding projects and design concepts but also helped spread green design thinking, connecting the next generation of builders with emerging trends in the global construction industry.
